Care & Maintenance

Cleaning

To maintain the radiant sheen of your Quartz countertop, simply clean it regularly with soap and warm water. Avoid using any abrasive cleaners or cleaning agents that contain bleach, as these may etch the surface. Strong chemicals and solvents, highly alkaline cleaners, permanent markers and ink and nail polish removers should also be kept away from Quartz surfaces. Any food or liquid spills should be cleaned up as soon as possible to ensure that staining does not occur. For general daily cleaning, we recommend using a product that says specifically on the label “for use on natural stone.” These cleaners are available at most hardware stores and some grocery stores. Give us a call at (246) 428-2920 for further information on these products.

Scratches

Although Quartz Engineered Stone is resistant to scratches, cuts and chipping, it is not scratch-proof. We recommend that you avoid cutting directly on your counter to ensure the long-lasting beauty of the surface.

Hot Items

Quartz Engineered Stone can withstand heat better than most other surface materials; however, exposing your counters to extreme temperatures can result in damage being done to the surface. As with all our other surfaces, we recommend that hot items be placed on a trivet or hot pad to prevent any damage from occurring.

Quartz is an engineered stone, composed of over 90 percent pure quartz crystals that are combined with high-performance, stain-resistant polymers, while Granite is a natural stone. This makes Quartz a non-porous surface, while Granite is a porous countertop material. Quartz is also more uniform in appearance, while Granite has the natural beauty of unpredictable veins and streaks in each slab.

8. How does the price of Quartz compare with Granite?

Quartz is 10 percent more expensive than most of our Granite surfaces.

9. Does Quartz need to be sealed?

No, Quartz is a non-porous surface, therefore it does not require sealing.
